How to Choose a Plane Seat Now That SeatGuru Is Dead

With SeatGuru offline since 2025, after 24 years of color-coded cabin maps, choosing a plane seat has gotten more laborious, but not impossible. The combination that replaces the tool is AeroLOPA for the technical cabin diagram, Flightradar24 for figuring out which aircraft and which tail number will operate your specific flight, and Planespotters or Airfleets to translate that tail number into the exact sub-fleet. The emergency exit row, for that matter, isn't always the best choice: fixed armrest, adjacent lavatory, and a ban on children exact a price the extra space doesn't always cover.
