November to February is the best window: dry season, cool weather (relatively). Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bali are at their peak — also more expensive and crowded. May-October has monsoon, but rain is usually short afternoon showers.
Which Southern Hemisphere destinations in July?+
July is winter in the south: ideal for Argentine/Chilean Patagonia with snow, Bariloche, Atacama (clearest sky on the planet), Cape Town for whale watching, Sydney for Vivid Festival.
What is 'shoulder season' and why does it matter?+
Shoulder season is the in-between season — weeks between high and low season. You get still-good weather, hotel prices 30-50% lower, cheaper flights and attractions without lines. Examples: April/October in Europe, April/May in Bali.
